How Long Will It Take To Return From Knee Surgery?
“Before we return to sports, we want to trust the knee, we want it to be stronger than it was pre-surgery, and we want full and symmetric strength and range of motion... ”
One of the big concerns that active people have after they have surgery on the Knee concerns how long it'll take to return to full speed.
Many of the folks I see enjoy a high level of performance, either in a recreational, amateur, or professional sense, and my goal is to get them back to the same level (or in some cases, performing better) than before.
I've spoken about Activity Preservation on the blog before, and I think it's a concept that is going to gain more and more steam as we continue to make strides in how effective we are in the world of sports medicine.
“Activity preservation is basically all about keeping you doing the activities that you love to do. ”
That said, I answer questions about the timeline for athletes to return to sports on a daily basis. I'm going to keep it general here today, as everyone's particular surgery is going to be different and recovery should be treated as such. However, even if you aren't a world class athletes, the basic tenets of recovery will apply to your return, for the most part.
